Realtek audio driver makes a MASSIVE difference

So I ended up buying the dt770 pro 80s on sale from guitar center. Keep in mind the best headphones I have ever had is the turtle beach x12s. I plugged them in right away and was immediately disappointed. They sounded like regular old stereo over ear headphones. And they didn't get NEARLY loud enough even at Max volume on most songs. I was getting ready to return them when I checked to make sure I have the correct drivers installed. Turns out I didn't have even a realtek driver at all. As soon as I installed it it was literally a NIGHT AND DAY difference. The bass hit like a truck. I could make out details of songs I never knew existed. And even 40 percent volume shook my soul. I ended up listening to tidal for 3 hours. I even got up and danced a few times without realizing it. Why does having this driver make such a MASSIVE difference? I have a z97a mobo from Asus btw. But man. These cans rule

ASUS eh? Same here, had an ASUS laptop with 'meh' sound and after a Windows update, which added a Realtek audio driver, my sound jumped a hundred fold. Could hear that thing a mile away, and it was clear and not tinny at all. No idea why it made such a difference but I enjoy it immensely.
