Need a New CPU Cooler

shakenbreak

I currently have a Cooler Master Hyper T2 cooling a Core 2 Quad Q9550 @ 3.53GHz. It gets pretty hot under stress testing (roughly 70C).

Pretty soon I'm going to be getting a QX9650, so I will need some beefier cooling.

The only problem is I have a Corsair 100R which doesn't allow for super tall CPU Coolers (150mm max according to Corsair, but I've heard of people putting Hyper 212 Evos in them).

I'd like to keep the price around or under $60.

I was looking at this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835709018 but other recommendations would be great.

The 212 Evo would do fine.

I've got the T2, I had no idea how small it actually was but it does keep my 4790k in check under moderate load.

i7 4790k | MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition | G.Skill Ripjaws X 16 GB | Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB | 2x Seagate Barracuda 2TB | MSI GTX 970 Twin Frozr V | Fractal Design R4 | EVGA 650W

A 212 EVO stands 160mm tall. Either Corsair is being very conservative in their measurements (entirely possible) or people are getting creative with their cases to make the cooler fit.

Phanteks makes some great coolers, as (of course) does Noctua. For something a bit more budget oriented that will definitely fit your case and perform as well as a 212 EVO, check out the Cryorig H7. The beQuiet! Pure Rock is bigger than your case's specs say it can handle, but if a 212 EVO will fit, so will a Pure Rock.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.

My friend who has the QX9650 has a 212 Evo, he's hitting over 70C on stress testing (granted it is at 3.9GHz and 1.4v) so I'm not too confident in my T2.

I might have to open up my case and measure exactly what I could fit in there haha. I like the look of the Cryorig H7 but it doesn't have support for LGA 775 :(

I actually measured it. It's roughly 6.5 inches (165mm) from the motherboard to side of the case where the side panel would slide in. So that opens up some options :D
