Hey,

I am building a mid-range PC for my brother and I'm a bit stumped when it comes to the GPU. I myself have a 390, which is too expensive for my brother - his maximum is about £150. I was looking at a 960 but I really don't know whether to go for nvidia on a budget, AMD seems the way to go. Anyway, any ideas?

Thanks, Ron.

The Nvidia software works much better than AMD. At least thats my experience

As I said, I have a fairly small budget to work with. I'm not going to spend extra money on a fluorescent green GUI to make-out with in exchange for worse performance. I have used both AMD and Nvidia and both do the job adequately software-wise.

Without saying any bias I say this

380, Higher TDP, Hotter around 5% more preformance

960, Lower TDP, Cooler, comes with geforce experience

its up to you

380 is more powerful than the 960, 960 has better power consumption and lower temperatures than the 380. Price difference is pretty negligible for 4GB models of each. I went with the 960 and probably would again because of my priorities, but if your use case involves virtually entirely gaming, then a 380 is better for you.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.
