problem with burning OS

I first burned my OS onto a cd then notice that I don't have a CD drive to install on my future custom PC. Then I tried to burn onto a USB which I then tested onto my current pc and it failed to launch the windows installation splash screen when I selected to boot it. I got my ISO and key from a service for students called dream sparks (Click here to see). The image of windows is 8.1 industry pro. I am currently trying to install a copy of windows media creation tool from Microsoft but I don't know which version to use because my key only works with industry pro which is not listed on the creation tool program. I would order a CD drive but it will come later then the parts.

I don't believe Industry Pro is actually supposed to run on a regular desktop. It's en embedded systems os.

Industry Pro versions of Windows run on things like Point of Sale devices.

It's not regular Windows 8.1, it's named the same but it's fundamentally different.

Unlikely. Doesn't your Dreamspark account have normal Windows operating systems on offer?

No but if I get windows 10 since it is free do I have to activate it

Windows 10 needs to be activated with either a valid Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 key.

No to both questions. While it is called "windows 8.1", it isn't at the same thing, they are two completely different products. The key will not work for Windows 8.1 pro or to activate Windows 10.
