Transferring OS to SSD

I'm going to be getting a SSD to put Windows 10 onto then have the rest of my data on my hard drive, I am wondering how i should back up all my data without backing up the OS? Because there are drivers leaking on the current OS so i need to wipe anyhow. And is there anyway to make Just the OS installed on there and lock out other programs from using the SSD? Also if you guys have any tips about doing this let me know thank you!

I would put all your stuff you need on a thumb drive or something and everything else like steam and what not don't save. Then just format the hard drive and start fresh. Allows for everything to be new and speedy and doesn't have all the frustration with migrating back and forth

I'm theres a program somewhere that lets you choose what to back up But, I would just copy the various user folders and program folders although the real problem is without reinstalling each program manually or cloning the OS folders you shortcuts, temp files, and some other options will be lost.
