I have a MPower Max AC motherboard which has 3 PCI express x16 slots

and two of these Graphic cards --EVGA GeForce GTX 980 ti classified acx 2.0+

For some reason I have two different manuals

one of them says to put the second Graphic card in the furthest PCI express x16 slot away from the CPU

But the second one I have says to put the 2nd Graphic card in the second PCI express x16 slot

Which do I do??

Picture?

I am guessing your pcie config is

From top to bot

Pciex16

Pcie2.0 x4

Pcie2.0 x4

Pciex16

Pcie2.0 x4

Pciex16

My intuition says the top most x16 and the next nearest x16 slot would be what you want to use.  I dont know if your sli bridge will be long enough to connect two cards in the farthest pcie slots anyways.  I am guessing that the bottom most pciex16 slot shares lanes with the m.2 interface, so definitely avoid using that one.

From reading on the MSI website, you would put them into the highest two (closest to the CPU) PCIe slots and they will run in x8,x8 mode.

Both of these manuals came in the same box my graphic cards came incpu.jpg.d52f29699c35c693a153bb7116f0af2esecond.jpg.0b86fb8c3624a14ddb40226394df5
