So I work in a small rock climbing gym and have been tasked with fixing the two servers that we have. So a little background the guy that built the servers set them up in a raid 1 configuration with pny SSDs (Parts list below). He built them back in June. Since June in only 8 months we have gone through 3 SSD deaths and have had to replace them. No other computers that have standard spinners have had any issues and they have been running in the same environment for years. So these computers are abused. They are rarely cleaned if at all and run 24/7. Many of them run in cupboards in the desk with poor ventilation so they get hot. I cleaned them all about 2 weeks ago and on a few of them I could not actually see the motherboard because of how much chalk and dirt were caked on them. My main question is this. Are SSDs more susceptible to thermals as well as dirt and chalk which will cause them to fail? Is it potentially a motherboard problem? Or is it a problem with that specific SSD where they keep dying? One server has seen two SSD deaths and the other has seen one. Thank you very much in advance I appreciate any advice and feedback.

Get some samsung 850 evo SSDs, very fast and reliable for the price.

As with all electronics, at some point being exposed to too high of temperatures will cause issues, though SSDs don't get very hot, nor do they need much cooling, so I doubt that would be the issue, though it could still be possible.
