GPU Limitations?

So I have a gtx 960m, and a i7 with hyper threading. I'm sure the processor won't max out with any games, but the GPU... Not so sure. How much could this GPU handle, I'm sure it could do plenty of games, but what about more demanding ones, such as The Witcher 3

aslo you should be able to play most AAA games at at least medium settings

The 960m is a little worse than the 870m in my laptop, and I'm usually able to pull respectable fps on med to high settings (no aa) at 900p or 1080p. That all depends on the game, and witcher 3 is known to beat the shit out of systems, so you might have to bring it down a notch.

Ok thanks! I may look into another graphics card, I have about 200$ to spare, any good upgrades for just 200$?

Have you already bought the laptop, because unless it is a desktop replacement style notebook, you wont be able to upgrade much other than the hdd and ram, both of which dont affect your fps much.

In that case you cant do much to increase your fps. If you have sufficient thermal headroom you could try overclocking the gpu, and I have had good results from my old desktop replacement...

 

I also assume it does not have a thunderbolt 3 port  on it to allow for the connection of an external gpu...

It does not, I have found there is not a lot of room for improvement, I would have bought a desktop, and 750$ woulda got me a damn good one, but the portability was needed for college

Yeah, I used my laptop for most of the 1st semester, because it would have been a hassle to ship my desktop over from norway...
