so i decided that i want to add additional memory to my laptop. so i looked at the user manual first, then opened up the back of the computer. its SUPPOSED to have 2 memory slots in it. but i can only find one. the diagram shows one dimm on each side of a bar. and the bar even shows that there is supposed to be a second memory slot. but there is NO HARDWARE what so ever. before i really go off the deep end, how can i make certain this computer is actually supposed to have two slots. by the way, it is a Lenovo G 50-30. photo 71 shows the bar, and where the second memory slot should be. photo 69 shows where the hardware for the secons slot should be if there was any. i figured this would be as easy as finding out exactly what memory was in there, so i could get a good match, and popping a new card in the second slot.

Looks like this is the cheaper model or Lenovo decided to scrap the 2nd slot because they think, those who buy these are not planning to do any upgrades, unless they pay a premium for it first.

Update:

Took a look at the specs, it's a netbook stuffed into a laptop chassis. Netbook only comes with 1 ram slot.

well, %$&#!  how do i figure out how much is the max memory it will support?

Go to their website find your laptop and then go down in specs, it should say what the max ram is. Most laptops can have 8GB ram.

According to this: http://www.cnet.com/products/lenovo-g50-30-80g0-15-6-pentium-n3530-win-8-1-4-gb-ram-500-gb-hdd/specs/ its 8GB. I think that is a pretty safe number anyways.

i never could find a spec page even after 2 hours of looking. i went to their forum, and found one other person that was upgrading the ram on their system. and yes, 8gb is the max. and one card is all they put into this thing. i love my wife, (who bought this for me as a present), but sometimes, i REALLY wish she would just give me the money, and let me pick the present. thanks for the help.

Quote

those are not the correct specs for my machine. mine has a N3530 processor, with 4GB of ram, and a 500GB WD blue hard drive. my real problem was that every piece of literature shows this to have 2 memory card slots. and there is only one. i know because i took the back off to add the second card.
