Ethernet Slow

Craftsman_2222

I finally got Ethernet today and I'm still lagging in games. I have a connection of 10 Mb/s and up of ~ .70 Mb/s. The Ethernet cable is a cat 5e but I still lagged out of the first Rainbow Six: Siege game. My router is good, ASUS RT-AC66U, this router, http://www.microcenter.com/product/396996/RT-AC66U_AC1750_Dual-Band_Wireless_Gigabit_Router

Why is my internet not as fast as it should be?

What speeds and ping do you get at speedtest.net? Also, open CMD, type "tracert www.google.com" and post the output.

Like he said. What upload speed do you pay for? What is the speed on WiFi?

Idk what upload, I looked. I thought that switching to Ethernet would raise the download to the 10 mb/s not stay at the 1.2 mb/s that I was getting with wireless...

Well your speedtest screenshots shows 10 Mbps which is the download that you pay for.

Also, keep in mind that while your 'Internet speed' is advertised in Mbps (Megabits per second), actual download speeds are usually measured in MBps (or MB/s, Megabytes per second). There are 8 bits in a byte, so the theoretical max download speed on a 10Mbps connection is 1.25MB/s. Your router is capable of much higher speeds than this, so I don't believe that is the problem.

I would ask your ISP what your upload speed is supposed to be. Also what media is your internet service provided over (ex. Cable modem, DSL)?
