What's your budget and what features are you looking for specifically?

Also is the Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 good?

The UD5 is similar to the Gaming 5 but has Thunderbolt 3. The UD5 lacks the gold USB ports and audio jacks which the Gaming 5 has (less noise on those ports)

Both are superior to the Asus one in features such as audio and overclocking.

The Z170X-Gaming 7 has both gold USB ports and audio jacks & Thunderbolt 3. Also a MUCH better onboard audio (it's basically the Sound Blaster ZxR soundcard integrated), though not noticeable with low end audio gear (practically useless if you have a USB headset).

Another alternative is the Asus Maximus VIII Hero, even though it has a slightly inferior VRM and 1 less m.2 slot, it's pretty much the same as the Gaming 7. (the audio is also a different DAC, probably same quality).

PS all those motherboards have a lot of USB 3 and a couple or more of 3.1 and type-C ports.

what features are needed for this ATX motherboard?

what CPU is being used?

SLI/CFX support?

intel, killer, realtec NIC?

PS2 option?

USB connectivity USB 2 or USB 3?

future needs?

also, not to shortcut you needs, but if you'd allow the community to suggest a build with your needs and budget, they are prtty good at doing so, instead of making multiple threads and not get any real sense in coming to an end result.
