1st time/New Build

DSync3542

Hello all,

As the title stated I am a first timer, please let me know of any shortcomings in my choices. I have been reading and watching tons of reviews and build guides and this seems to be decent as to the best of my knowledge. I am sure there are places for improvement as your breadth of knowledge and experience is like far greater than my own.

Thank you for any and all contributions!

NOTE:  I had this same exact post on PCPartpicker with the 1st iteration linked below, and iteration 2 was recommended to me by the only user who read my post.

Let me know what you think of both!

1st iteration: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/VqxxD3

2nd iteration: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/QqG2gs

Both are pretty good. The only difference I see is Skylake vs Haswell. If budget isn't a big deal, go Skylake.

The difference is just 20 dollars, don't think that is much of a concern.

A R9 390 might be a better alternative if you wish to game at higher resolutions or at GPU/VRAM bound games.

Yeah, I wasn't really looking at prices, just parts.:D But +1 for the 390 unless OP needs NVidia features (CUDA, Shadowplay, etc...).

Just reccommended this exact build to another person, but add a keyboard and monitor to this and it should be perfect for you too.

Neither, overclocking isn't really going to be worth it, and you should be getting a better display, something either 1440p IPS, or 1080p 144hz free-sync(still around $250) but the 144hz display would be TN, a 970 is overkill for a 1080p display, and a 390 would be faster than a 970 anyways

Also go for a single 8gb stick of RAM so upgrading is easier later if you need 16gbs
