Where are the differences between a powered hub, an unpowered hub and an pci expansion card?

I presume, that the unpowered hub is the worst with limited speed and charging capabilities as well as added latency.

The powered hub should not have a problem with charging but still have limited speed.

And the expansion card should pretty much be like a normal usb port.

Am I correct?

How much input lag would a powered Hub add for a Controller?

a hub adds "lag" but any decent hub shouldnt be to the point even a very sensitive human can notice it.

unpowered hubs are usually for low power stuff like keyboard, mouse, etc. powered hubs are for when either the signal needs to reach far (you lose those 5 volts quickly) or when you have high energy draw equipment (phones, RGB backlit keyboards)

usb expansion cards basicly do the exact same thing as the usb ports on your mobo: they take pci bandwidth, and turn it into usb ports.
