Yeah that's not their best card so stick with Asus, I also I would recommend checking up R9 390X (a bit slower than a 980 in 1080p) and R9 fury(a bit faster than a 980 in 1080p) prices just before you buy.

Here are some benchmarks if you want to compare the cards, though note that the AMD cards get relatively faster at 1440P and 4K.
