I want total silence in my pc, there are ways to turn off my hard drive by they don't work for me.

I've got a few options

Get a sata to usb adapter and take my hard drive out and only plug it in when I need it

Get a 120gb or 250gb SSD to replace it 9I don't download that many games

Buy a pre-built NAS

Or stop being a little bitch and deal with the sound?

I take it this is a storage disk. 240GB SSDs don't cost that much so if it is enough, it will do. I see the Sandisk 960GB SSD on sale around £160 now and then if you want something bigger.

Nah, being annoyed by a loud PC is very understandable, I've been working towards silencing my PC (as much as possible) for a while now.

An SSD is obviously the best choice, but high capacity SSDs, even low end ones, do come with a hefty premium.

I'd go SSD, but a SATA to USB adapter is another option if it's a drive you don't need to access too often and your PC is within arm's reach.

I rarely download stuff anyway, my key applications are on my SSD anyways! Or I could get a WD Green, I heard these are practically silent:
