Gaming build

need quad channel for X99 CPU's so get 4x4gb or 4x 8gb

cant advise on 2 gamers on one pc, but I'm pretty sure it needs 2x physical boards for I/O's etc (may be wrong)

Good to know about RAM.  I don't think you need separate boards, just unRAID to set up a VM.

Jup.. If you use SLI/Crossfire in CSGO it will not work properly.

I think CS has trouble mapping the images through 2 GPU's.

You should consider buying 1 good GPU like the Fury X or R9 390X.

Oh only for source engine games ok I just got really scared!

I could totally be wrong, but I don't think you'd use SLI on this build. Each GPU would be separate, dedicated to one VM. Right?

Edit: Oh, and @WittyRacoon554 not sure if you noticed but that MOBO only has 1 M.2 Slot.

i7 4790k | MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition | G.Skill Ripjaws X 16 GB | Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB | 2x Seagate Barracuda 2TB | MSI GTX 970 Twin Frozr V | Fractal Design R4 | EVGA 650W

A gaming PC for your budget: $800 - $1000 - $1500 - $1800 - $2600 - $9001

Fury X is only good a 4k (which the OP made no mention of), other than that it's not really worth its money especially against a 980ti, and it doesn't even get close to titan at those lower res's

Also if you have a lack of knowledge of both sides, don't advise :/

I'd like to do a two gamers pc thing

i doubt he will sli those gpus if he intend to use them seperately

comments on build:

Spoiler

1) processor seems a bit weak for gaming on 2 platform, you need to allocate atleast 1 core to the host and divide the rest among 2 players, so you're left with 3 and 2 cores to divide, not really recommended in any high end gaming setup

2) that motherboard is overkill and unecessary

3) your motherboard only supports one m.2, just get 2.5inch SSD for gaming, no need for m.2

4) you will need another gpu for the host

5) overkill psu, 850W is more than enough

At your price point, there are really 2 choices. Since they are both so functional and so badass, it's really just aesthetic preference that sets them apart. I am partial to Asus, partly because of their BIOS, but also because of their build quality, and they are highly reccommended by Linus too, but they are both VERY good motherboards. Here are the links:

EDIT: You may run into some serious difficulty trying to find a place that sells the carbon board though, so good luck
