I7 6700k idle voltage too high

So I'm pretty new to the overclocking scene, but I managed to get my new cpu to 4.5 ghz at 1.35v. My concern is that for some reason it idles at 1.4 volts and I have no idea why. Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

post system specs and os. if youre using a asus motherboard use aida64 to check voltages and temperatures. thats the only program asus sensors are accurate (as told by asus).

did you use manual or adaptive voltage? if adaptive, is your offset on auto? does voltage drop to 1.35v on load?

your voltage wont downclock until youre using adaptive voltage with speedstep enabled and youre using windows balanced power plan.

Along with what Minsekt is asking, have you tried messing with settings like Load Line Calibration?

I had this problem with my overclock and it was LLC that solved my problem.

Got it figured out, I'm running an msi board and core voltage setting needed to be auto. Thanks for the help

Core voltage setting does not need to be auto. The whole reason for adjusting the voltage is to keep a system stable while allowing for higher overclocks. Did you even test core speeds at different voltages or did you just arbitrarily pick some numbers and go with it?
