Do i have enough RAM

Hello everyone

so I am buying a new graphic card its a Asus R7 370 but i have just 4gb of ram and a lot of games require 8gb or more will the games still be playable with only 4gb of ram or will i have to upgrade ram to.

I would get another 4gb,  especially considering how much ram costs.  But your gpu will be the bottleneck before the ram in some games.

4GB of VRAM is enough for even 4K at times, but 4GB of System RAM(with an iGPU), might cause problems, as the game itself will take up tons of memory, with almost nothing left for the system!

You can never have enough ram but cereal though, my recommendation would be for you to get an extra 4gb of ram just to be safe. Out of memory crashes are the worst.

Ok so i will get another 4gb but i also have 2 sticks of corsair 4gb ram, but a program i have is telling me that i have 4gb(patriot) of physical memory, and 8gb(corsair) of virtual memory what does that mean that i have 12gb of ram?

No virtual memory is on your Hard drive, and it's size is configured by Windows. It's got nothing to do with the Corsair memory...

It is obvious he meant system ram. There is no 370 with 8 gigs and you certainly cant upgrade it. And no, it isn't an APU, he clearly states r7 370.

 

I would definitely pick up an extra 4GB of ram. 4GB used to be the general recommend lowest amount, but it is definitely 8 now.

Ok so i cant find the exact same ram stick but i just have to look for the same speed right?

It's best to have matching pairs so if you can't find the exact ram that you already have, it would be best to get an 8gb stick/kit.

But as long as the size, speed and timings are the same, you shouldn't have too many (if any) problems.

Get 4 more GBs of RAM. Minimum for most titles nowadays requires 8GBs. Find the same kit you bought and buy it again. If it is one stick of 4GBs get another stick with the same speed.
