How Steam games work

Hello,

 

I haven't purchased any games via Steam store before ,so I don't know how that works.

 

My question is .... 

If I purchase a game via steam whether I should download the game or else I need to play it on-line all the time???

Is it possible to play steam games offline

You can play games in offline mode, but your games won't sync to the cloud until you go online again.

You buy a game, you download it, you play it whenever you want. Unless it's some Ubisoft game that wants you to go through their DRM platform

Yeah you download it an it sits on your hard drive. You can play it whenever you want, online or off.
