Start old DL360 without fan?

Go to solution Solved by Sunshine1868,

Maybe the machine doesn't know that fan exists. It probably is reading a "0" on the rpm of that fan (even when unplugged) and failsafes itself out of a bootstrap.

Hi all, I have an old HP DL360 server, but the CPU fan has seized up, thus triggering the "Fan solution not sufficient" error and it will fail to boot up.

I've modded some 120mm fans to the heatsinks, powered of an external 12v power supply which works fine, but it won't boot up due to that error.

Is there anything I can do to make it boot like this, or am I really going to need a new fan?

Yeah it probably does.

Well screw this, thing's way too old to be worth any attention.

I'll sell it for a couple of bucks or something.
