Short answer? Nope. If you're on a budget, go Athlon X4 860K, otherwise go at least i3-6100. i5 is highly recommended.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT 16GB GDDR6 Motherboard: MSI PRESTIGE X570 CREATION
AIO: Corsair H150i Pro RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 32GB 3600MHz DDR4 Case: Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic PSU: Corsair RM850x White

the athlon has 4 cores like the 4350 and the 4350 has a higher clock speed

No get a g3258 it will destroy the 4350. There is a thing called IPCs you know, which AMD RN is shit on. That's why i3s beat even AMD's 8 core CPUs right now.

unless your getting it for dirt cheap go with the i3 4170, pentium g3258 or the x4 860k

the pentium and i3 have to cores and lower clock speeds, the athlon has the same amount of cores and lower clock speeds

Athlon can be overclocked, and has higher IPC (instructions per clock) than the 4350. Motherboards for FM2+ socket should also be cheaper.

the IPC on the FX is worse than the 860K

the 860K even beats the FX8320

^ This

Also OP Cores and clock speeds don't mean as much as you think,

CPU: i5 6600k OCed to 4.5Ghz @ 1.35v, GPU: R9 390 Nitro, Motherboard: Asus z170-A, CPU Cooler: H100i GTX, RAM: HyperX 2x8 16gb DDR4, PSU: Seasonic x650, Storage: 850 EVO 500gb, WD 1tb blue, Case: H440 White/Black

i think it's because intel has hyperthreading

That doesn't mean that all 8 cores will perform better than a 4 core,

My 6600k with 4 cores @ 4.4 Ghz will beat a 9590 with 8 cores at 5ghz in practically all games.

On Topic: I would try to see if you could get a i3-6100 or even better a i5 instead of those amd processors unless you are on a very tight budget.

The FX-4350 is a better choice than the 860K simply because it has L3 cache. And it matters a lot in games, for some reason.

Check out my guide on how to scan cover art here!

they are very similar in performance...both are meh...like very meh...

OP, go with an i3-6100 or an i5-6400/6500 if at all possible...if not, the FX-6300 should cost about the same or less as the FX-4350 and it perform better.
