I just found this gaming desktop (Hewlett Packard h8-1214 computer) (used) on craigslist that is for $500 and includes the monitor, keyboard and mouse. Should I buy it?

I am not going to use this machine for gaming (but might do some light gaming). It will be used for daily computing (YouTube, Emails, Web browsing).

  Here are the specs:
AMD FX-6100 6 core processor
10 GB ram
1.5TB hard drive
GTX 560 Superclocked graphics card
700 watt Corsair CX power supply
Razer Naga lighted/wired keyboard and mouse
Gateway 24" 1200p glossy monitor
Logitech 5.1 audio system with subwoofer

The specs aren't that good for a used $500 system.

GTX 560 will lag severely behind.

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

I would have them specify exactly what keyboard that is, simply because, iirc, there isn't a Naga keyboard. Correctly me if I'm wrong though.

No, not a good deal. Meh at best, as @thekeemo said, only cause it comes with a monitor. The 560 is virtually null anymore, decent for 720p older titles, but oh well.

What about this: https://phoenix.craigslist.org/wvl/sys/5491166076.html       (Doesn't come with peripherals nor a monitor)

Decent, but the GPU is ancient. Try to upgrade it to a gt 610/730.

Just for your knowledge, that's looking more like a Razer DeathStalker keyboard than anything else I'm finding. Again, no Naga keyboard exists as far as I can tell.

lol I don't know much about GPUs I looked at the other components and they looked ok.

Its actually pretty good since your not going to do anything heavy with it. That is probably a first gen i7 which is capable of doing light gaming but not anything intense like rendering/streaming or gta v.

if I add a 610 the system will cost about $340. At that price will it perform better then a system that I can build today for that price?

Not really, considering its a i7 with a gt 610.

get the I7 system and grab a 770, 960, 280,290, or somthig like that and you should have a decent system.

I think these graphics cards are overpowered for a daily computing system, they are more for like a entry level gaming system right?

For $295, I think this one is a much better deal than your first Craigslist post.  Buy it, take it for a spin without upgrading the video card.  If you end up needing more video card then buy a decent used card and you're still below the $500 of your first post.  The second computer has an i7, more RAM and just looks better.  You'll still come out ahead even after purchasing a monitor if you don't have one already.

Lol, I had a better gpu in my 8 years old pc, which is now struggling as a browsing/excel machine. No way that's worth the listed price, I wouldn't pay even half of it. I'm amazed that this thing is still working, it's ancient. Doesn't even say which gen i7. Ram is the only great thing about it, but I'd say it's probably the crappiest sticks you could get.

Thanks, any recommendations for a decent graphics card?

As you stated earlier, you're main goal for this setup is surfing the web, watching YouTube and other light duty work.  Don't worry about the "the video card sucks" posts because they aren't listening to what you stated at the opening of this thread.

As long as you keep in mind that you aren't going to be doing any decent gaming with it, you'll be fine.  When you decide to start playing more serious games start a video card thread if you haven't already answered your own questions by digging through here.

Good luck!

Thanks for your opinion and all this info, I have researched about the system and it looks like it has an i7 920 is that a good processor?
