I built my wife's computer a month and a bit ago was a very limited budget.  My budget was about 500 dollars canadian( meaning I'm a cheap prick).  I couldn't bring my self to buy a HD so I spent $100 on a 250G SSD.  My wife noticed the speed of the SSD right away, but it took her awhile to really get used to the speed.  Now she is like why didn't I have this long ago (as I have had SSD for 3 years).  Now this is where I'm going with this WHY isn't companies installing SSD's on all prebuilt systems.  They dont need to install a big SSD just big enough for OS.  The price to performance would be out of this world. They would have to do some programing to keep everything off SSD but OS so it is dummy proof.  If there was a need for small 60 g SSD they could be made for very little.

Why isn't anyone smart enough to see this

? They're companies trying to get money off of pre-built computers.

The reason why Pre-built computers are garbage is simply because the companies that make them could give two less shits basically. The reason why you would get a pre-built is basically saying " Hey am new to the PC community is this any good? " then you get ripped off because your a new person and don't know any better and that's what companies want. So they offer sub par parts for outrageous prices which making your own PC at that price puts to shame/

NEVER GIVE UP. NEVER STOP LEARNING. DONT LET THE PAST HURT YOU. YOU CAN DOOOOO IT

It costs more, pre-built systems are made as cheaply as possible and sold for as much as possible. Installing an SSD and a storage drive (let's face it, a 60GB SSD is fairly useless as any system's only drive), is not only more expensive, but more time consuming and complicated when putting the system together. It might not seem like much when you're only building one PC at home, but factories churn out thousands of the damn things.
