How do I do this?

I have run a separate PSU for a GPU before but you have to put a jumper in the main power plug to close the switch and then manually power up the PSU every time you post.

How do I run two power supplies and have them both power down with the power button on my case?

Well ain't that simple. Thanks!

You also need to consider the design of the power supply. Since the secondary PSU is supplying only +12v from the PEG connector(s), you are putting the PSU in a heavy crossload scenario in which lower-end group design will experience in large drops in voltages on the 12v.

ghetto mod one yourself

first you get a transistor

then you find the green cable on the psu you want to jump

connect the green pin to the collector

and connect the emitter to any black wires on your psu

then take the psu thats connected to the main rig

connect the green wire on the 24 pin to the base of the transistor with a 10k ohm resistor in series between the green wire and the base of the transistor

and then connect any black wire on this 24 pin to the emitter of the transistor as well

and viola! you've done it

now try turning your computer on

and short yourself to death :D

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately
