I am using a macbook pro mid 2012 and the trackpad on it sometimes works and other times (still usable) it becomes really choppy and irritating to use. I can still click things and when I scroll it also works. Just when moving the cursor around it has issues. Any ideas on how to fix this? Also I don't have any warranty on it. Also, it runs quite hot (hotter than normal) when just doing casual things, like browsing the web. Could it possibly be blocked up fans? However the fans do get really loud at times. Thx in advanced

One thing I always recommend for MacBook owners is at least once a year open up the bottom cover and use a can of compressed air to dust the fans and heat sinks.  MacBook pro vents are a bit small and after several months dust can accumulate reducing the efficiency of the heat removal system.

As for the trackpad, is it badly worn or scratched?  Or perhaps you just need a software update.

I have encountered this problem before and it seems to be linked to the power adaptor. Is your macbook plugged into a clean and proper power source? Try unplugging it and see if the trackpad is still glitchy.

Sorry, I forgot to include the fact that when the macbook is connected to power the trackpad works fine. It is only when running on battery. And the trackpad to my knowledge as not experienced any damage that is visible. So no cracks or scratches etc. Any ideas on how to fix the trackpad? or even what is wrong with it for that matter?
