is it worth the extra $31 to get the hyper x cloud 2 or just stick to the cheap hyper x cloud core ?

Regular HyperX Cloud are good enough unless you want surround sound.

from what ive heard, the virtual 7.1 on cloud 2 is pretty bad and not worth the money. id go with the core

Cloud Core, same headset just without USB dongle that is pretty garbage. Stick to the Cloud Core, you'd have to be an idiot to pay the extra for the Cloud 2 unless your 3.5mm audio ports were busted.

Wrong, the Cloud, Cloud Core, and Cloud 2 all can use virtual surround the exact same via Razer Surround for free.
