Hi guys,

I'm not sure if this is the right thread but I'll try any way. I am having an issue with my computer and I am at a total loss to explain it.  Recently my PC has been randomly shutting down and then rebooting, only to say that there is no boot device detected. It then seems to work perfectly if I turn it off from that point but I am sort of worried something might be going wrong.  Any help would really be appreciated.

Thanks

Is it doing it when its idle or while you're doing something on it?

if all dem criticals dont work, try cleaning out ur tower. if not then it might be ur motherboard, CPU or ssd. :)

all dem criticals always tell something. except when bugcheckcodes are 0, which means usually that your psu is fucked, like mine was.

Hi,

I suggest you try running the PC off another boot drive and seeing if it continues to shut down, If it doesn't, There is a high chance that there is a issue with the first boot drive. If it does continue to shut-down try addressing some driver updates and such and making sure everything in your PC is compatabile to run together.

Make sure to backup your data on your current boot device before performing any type of PC maintenance(Mainly changing boot devices)  and remember when opening your PC up to be clear of static.

Probably should have checked that first. It's throwing up event 41, which as far as I can tell is to do with the shut down not being completed properly.  Some googling has suggested that its a power supply issue but I find that unlikely given that my PSU is of a high quality and fairly new

It doesn't really matter if you have a high quality and fairly new PSU, sometimes factory defects can occur :P

What the hey....

I'm not sure if this is going to work, but use a different computer/laptop and make a bootable ubuntu os on a usb and boot from it. Let it run from the usb and see if the computer will suddenly turn off. If it does, the culprit could be the PSU. Also, if you can still RMA the psu, that'll be good.

oh okay coz my old pc had the same problem and it was the ssd that was like failing after 1 hour to one and a half hours of use and the psu was fine in my case

i had this exact problem in my case (not pc case) it was my cpu overheating the north bridge, so until i get a new motherboard i have a fan suspended in mid air pointing at the north bridge heat spreader and for the last month it has been working fine
