Hey guys,

I recently got a new modem after my last one died. Ever since I purchased it I have been having issues with connection dropouts, these dropouts set my network access to "limited". They occur when a device is connected to the network, be it a computer via WAN, a phone or a laptop. My modem is a TP-Link Model TD-W8970. I have contacted my ISP to confirm all of my internet user and pass details are correct and updated to the latest firmware. I'm completely lost and I can't seem to find anyone else with this specific issue. I can provide details where required (I have not done a modem setup solo before so I may need instructions).

Thanks, Phem

all wifi consumer stuff is absolutely shit. all of it, i hate wifi. it SUCKS! you can try putting the modem in a different place, for example please don't put it behind a steel wall, don't put it in your basement. dont put it as far away from you as possible, etc. if you are sure that you have it in a right place, then... well in all my experience, you are out of luck. thats wifi for you. i have had the exact same issues as you. you know what fixed them? not using wifi. im not saying however that those issues couldn't be fixed

Just now, Phem said:

It's not the wifi I'm worried about, its the entire network going down when a device is connected.

how about put "enable dns proxy" to off? this is one of these.. i don't know. general troubleshooting things which may just for some reason fix issues.
