Hey there,

I recently build a new pc. Everything is working fine, except the microphone. The pc recognices the mic, but when i try to record something etc. it does not work. I've tested the mic and it's working on all other devices. The drivers are up to date (tried reinstalling - nothing).

EDIT:

The audiodevice is selected, in the programs, where I want to use it.

The sound is not being picked up in the control panel.

My hardware specs:

- MSI R9 380

- ASRock H81M-DGS Mainboard

- i3 4170 3.7ghz

- arctic freezer pro rev 2

- Crucial Ballistix Sport 8gb RAM

- WD 1TB hdd

- XP600R6 Powersupply

- saharkoon VG4-W case

- Win 8.1 Pro

Thanks for any help :)

Stupid question but have you selected the right recording device in the program you're using? And is sound being picked up when viewing sound devices in the control panel?

Does you on-board audio/sound card have its own program? If it does, try and look through the menus on their to see if there's something you need to select. Some of the PC's at my work have on-board Intel audio with its own program, which requires you to select which input device you want to use

No, no extra program, just the realtekdriver program. In it I've selected my mic as the input device.

Another stupid question but.. Did you restart your PC after installing your drivers?

Yes, I've set up the pc about a week ago and I have restarted it a few times. Is it possible, that there is something wrong with the mobo?

Maybe, have you tried using any other devices on it?

Yes, no mic is working. I tried 3, but none worked. But on other devices, they work.

Try going into the properties of your microphone and turning volume AND boost to full, and see if it picks anything up
