Hello everyone, I have a question for you

I have a msi gaming 970 motherboard. This problem I have has been like a math problem for me J

My specs:

MSI gaming 970 mobo

AMD FX 8120 cpu

Sapphire R9 290 TriX vga

Asus xonar dg 5.1 pci sound card

For cooling, In my zalman z3 plus pc case, I use 2 fans for the push through the front for the pull 2 at the top and 2 push-pull at the back with liquid cooling heatsink between them (zalman LQ series)

I’ve written the relevant components for the problem I have.

The problem is my chipset gets too hot. It’s related to the mb I assume.. Cos when I touch there;

I can feel that it’s hotter than the other parts.

It shows 80 celcius degrees in hw monitor when I game and it shows 60 celcius when idle.

And I’ve decided to buy this;

Xigmatek Cn881 chipset cooler

And apply a 80mm fan to it.

This guy did that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKUrYTdYBGU   skip to the 23:03

My question is, is it going to be bad for my vga if I mount it with the fan facing down to my vga, or is it going to be better for my vga also??

Here you can see that I can’t replace my parts anywhere else in my case, cause my motherboard won’t allow me due to the lack of space and pci slots

Thanks

Shouldn't have any negative affects. The Gpu draws air from below so if anything, temps will get better. However, motherboard components are built to withstand very hot temperatures, with only passive cooling. You can probably help temps out alot by putting a fan or two in the front.

I like good humans and good food

@Aytex
Yeah I see.

Of course heatsink must be hot but don't you think that 80 degrees are way too hot for a chipset? They say that it is.. Idk..

I have just cleaned my pc from dust with very high pressure air. And replaced all the thermal pastes including the one that stock chipset has.

Motherboard is 4 or 5 monts old and I think it shouldn't get that hot, my old gigabyte wasn't be like that

As long as your CPU isn't above 90c then your fine

@Aytex

Than could you explain me that why is the game I'm playing starts fine with no stuttering at all and starts to lag after 10 mins,

I'm checking hw monitor and as soon as it passes 70 degrees, it starts to lag.

Meanwhile vga= max 60 celcius and cpu is max 45 celcius. everything is normal except chipset temprature (just my obsessive opinion)

@Abyssal Radon
Wh do you think that I shouldn't install the other heatsink? (ok I won't touch that again :))

@colinreay
Same question that I've asked to aytex

Yeah than I'll be fine right?

Somehow I don't believe it because of the thing that I've just told you.

Maybe your parts aren't getting enough airflow because of that hot 290?

add more fans than just a new cpu cooler and see if that helps

Also no need to get hostile towards me... :( im just tyring to help

@Aytex
That's not a cpu cooler..

that's a "bigass" chipset cooler with a 80mm fan support. It's bigger than the stock one on my board. Please watch the youtube video for 10 sec;

My question was is it going to be good or bad if I place it with the fan facing down to my vga?

No one answered my question here lol

well pointing more heat towards a hot as fuck r9 290 would be bad to place it sideways towards the exhaust so I guess towards VGA?

Yeah I see okay I will mount it as soon as I receive the heatsink and place it upside down, okay.

But I'm suprised when you said hot as fuck.. I mean It's not that hot :D Am I missing something? It shows max 60 celcius (idle 30-35) and runs very silent with sapphire's 3 fans
