So I have dropped my phone many times before, I think the last time was about four weeks ago maybe, but the thing is. I dropped it off my desk today. (Which is around three feet maybe)

I picked it back up and noticed it turned off... Then I also noticed that it started warming up, after about 4 minutes of it warming up, it became too hot to touch. After this it started spewing a horrible permanent marker like smell.

Being scared of it catching on fire, I picked it up and set it outside in the rain.

My question is, does Apple's standard warranty cover this?

What caught fire in it?

And.. yeah, now I have no more phone.

Why? I would've stuck it in the freezer first.

No, it does not cover accidentally damage. Although you MIGHT get something from the apple store if you go there and complain.

Can't answer your question but my Samsung Galaxy S2 has done similar thing maybe a month ago. I was sleeping and when I woke up I realized that I was late. It didn't set off an alarm. I touched it and it was off. Hot as hell. Quickly popped the battery out and let it cool down. Man, it still works but it was literally under my pillow, near my head. Scary AF.

I need S340. But more Define S'ish

Interesting, sadly on iPhones, you can't pop out the battery. Looks like I'm moving to Android.

What iPhone model is it? Try checking the warranty coverage. If your phone is not cracked or water damaged, it will be covered under warranty if you still have it.

I have no idea why you put it in the rain. You do realize that water and electricity aren't the best of friends right?
