I am planning on starting to use my laptop for school but am not sure about battery life (currently planning on an extra one)

but want some kind simulated load program to test my battery.

I would want to test just a normal load such as editing google docs possibly watching videos and browsing the web.

So if anyone knows of a program that is free

please post it here.

I would honestly just open whatever programs you would be using and leave them idle. Maybe type something every once in a while. Perhaps open more programs than you plan to be using to get a worse case result. Me? Oh I use prime95 and furmark. Do as I say, not as I do...

I would just do the things you are planning on doing.  Nothing more accurate than that! :)

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

Just open every program you intend to use at once :P

Maybe have a youtube video playing, this should put constant load on the network card and integrated video

You only need to do it long enough to have a good sample of data in terms of power draw.  Log the wattage used by your system and just use it for like 5 or 10 minutes and then you'll know the draw rate.  Knowing the battery capacity with a 8% reserve will tell you exactly how long it will last.
