So upon browsing the build logs I decided to Gauge your guys opinions on what you guys now think of when someone says they play PC Games or own a Gaming PC.

I believe gone are the days when Gaming PC were a shambles of red and blue LEDs with RAM coolers and Anime characters on GPUs.

I'd guess the generic PC now is:
An i5 2000 or above

600-750w PSU

Dual channel 8GB Ram

Hyper 212evo

Nvidia Card, 970, 960, 760 etc.

Corsair or NZXT Case

120GB SSD

1TB HDD.

That is what imagine all none enthusiast PC gamers are running. What do you guys think?

(I always think of nVidia cards as all my friends have them and have only owned 1 AMD card myself)

some crappy HP/dell prebuilt

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

Some sort of i5 or i7 from 2000 series on, 8gb RAM, and for GPU 600 series/hd 7000 series and later.

If you had to have me guess on the GPU I would probably say gtx 970, and for CPU I would go 4690k (there aren't TOO many sandy/ivy bridgers left and skylake is too new).

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

Really? In my opinion here in the UK people who run towers normally have pretty decent systems. Laptops are primarily used now for non techies.

True on the forum there don't seem to be a lot but I don't know too much about outside that.

Yeah, I brought up the topic because I was speaking to a guy at work today and when he said he had a PC he listed every part that I imagined as soon as he said he had a PC.

I think most people on this forum will probably adopt a near phone upgrade style with their components. Changing them roughly every three years. Hence why Haswell was so widely adopted due to Sandy Bridge being in my opinion one of the best platforms ever.
