Not an expert builder here. Their ranks seem very similar.

they're not side by side per se.

the Intel HD is an integrated GPU (iGPU) that comes with the CPU.

The nVidia card is a dedicated GPU (dGPU) that some models might not have.

 

Lower cost laptops only have the iGPU and it wouldn't be financially viable to have the same CPU with and without an iGPU
