xeon for gaming

Im planing to build a mini itx system,

PowerColor Radeon R9 Nano for Utrawide 3440 x 1440 gaming (high end games )

 

Im thinking about getting a Intel Core i5-6500 3.2GHz but would a intel xeon for the same price with more cores be better for gaming?

Yes, not only does/can it have 4 more threads (some are 4/4 logical/physical) - but it also has a higher core clock.

well , there is the xeon e3 1240v5 out , but you need a c232-236 chipset board ( h110 -z170 won't work ).

 

And that only has Hyperthreading , not more cores.

Your next jump up is this with 4 more threads for $50-70 more and it requires  a motherboard with C232 or C236 Chipset support.

but skylake boards that support xeon processors will be costly. So it will still be a decent amount more expensive. 

 

Haswell boards that support xeons will be ~50 for some. haswell xeon builds are some of the best bang/buck you can get right now.

Stick with the 6500 or jump to the 6700 if you want the extra threads.
