I admit this is where we are getting into my ignorance, but from the video it sounded like the contamination was from a metal reservoir.

Would you still pick up debris?

Note: I could see algae being a thing without some measure preparation.

Quick, half-assed Google search taught me I should listen to these guys ref:http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/t355358.html

On a langer scale, it is definately doable. The thing you need to keep in mind are the following things:

-Pressure on the fittings

-Contamination

-Pump power (this one is important!)

After watching the video concluding the water cooled room, I couldn't help but feel the same way Linus had during the project's summary.

Was really good to hear about the concerns of using a metal reservoir though, since I have never water cooled my own system. Despite the interest.

My thought after seeing that video is to consider building a water cooling system into the home during construction and to have access ports run like wall outlets. Have one room designed for dedicated gaming, computing, LAN parties. Placing the reservoir in the attic.

Note this is just a mental exercise to consider the design flaws and benefits. I'd like to hear any thoughts, suggestions, or opinions for something like this.

Cheers \o

That sounds sweet! I think one of the coolest ways to do it would be to have a preferably plastic/acrylic reservoir and strong pump isolated from everything else, close to a radiator enclosure preferabbly next to a window. Then you just route tubes through the walls and ports in the wall acting as quick disconnects, so you just plugin when you want to, and when you aren't, the loop still functionsthe same without.

I like good humans and good food

Linus' idea was purely experimental and I'm glad it worked to an extent. I can tell you a flaw straight away- come up a way to flush and clean the entire system once a year and avoid all contaminants. Very difficult.

Well you could in theory put all the exit ports that will go to pcs closer to windows so that you could hookup a hose to each port open all at once and flush from the top and don't stop till the water coming out looks clean. Well really don't need to be by a window. Just need longer hose. Or drain into a bucket.

Good point, any pipes should run along externally facing walls. Good catch!
