i was wondering what cause low fps in games, but after miljons differend links watched

 

so it start to run intersting, gpu-z says it running pci-e x1 v2.0 (while render test)

so i found problem? and if it is, how then can fixed?

 

mb: asus z99-a/usb3.1

gpu: gigabyte 980 ti g1 gaming

Render test doesn't always work in my experience. I doubt this is the problem, I don't think I've ever seen PCIe link auto-management bug out.

Reading the manual, with a 28 lane CPU (You haven't mentioned which CPU you have) one of the mechanical x16 slots will operate at x1 electrically.  I'm honestly having trouble finding out what conditions lead to some to this.  I'm also confused by the 'SLI switch' which seems to be a dip switch to select which slots get what bandwidth.  Isn't this normally done in the BIOS?  It says that a green LED should light up next to the PCI-E slots that operate.  I'm not 100% sure but I think maybe it's giving 16 electrical lanes to the slot you can't access and of the remaining lanes, you've plugged it into the slot that operates at x1?
