E5-2670 Compatibility

Go to solution Solved by Rune,

Each chipset generation uses different pin layouts. So no, if it was designed for x79 it will not.

So I know the 2670 is for x79, but is x99 also compatible? Not entirely clued up on chipsets, but x99 seems like just a newer generation?

No it does not support x99 chipset, I actually have a build I ordered with E5-2670's in it. I ordered a Asrock motherboard for it. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157350

Any bored in this list should be compatible with the E5-2670's: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&IsNodeId=1&N=100007629%20600288062

Edit: @Rune beat me to it.
