I have had so much trouble with my onboard nic (KillerNIC E2200), almost went so far to just replace the entire board, but everything else works fine, so seems like quite a waste. My problems have been ranging from many random disconnects and connection losses, but the by far most annoying problem is regarding steam downloading, when i download something from steam, it takes about 2-5secs, i then loose connection to my modem/router, i then have to do a "network repair" which just reboots the nic and i get right back on, then i can download for a bit longer, but will eventually have to do the same steps again when it throws me off. To make sure it isnt something related to the modem i installed steam on my "new" HTPC which is just a 2600k on a Asrock Z77m motherboard which is also wired directly up to the modem, no problems whatsoever there, steam just downloads normally and have no issues, which leads me to believe that it is the KillerNIC E2200 that just sucks, which from doing a bit of searching around on google seems to be the case.

What i actually would love to know is what kind of PCIE nic i shold buy? is it worth spending the extra money on a Intel NIC like this http://www.webhallen.com/dk-da/computere_og_tilbehor/116813-intel_gigabit_ct_desktop_adapter, compared to getting something like this from TPLINK http://www.webhallen.com/dk-da/computere_og_tilbehor/128007-tp-link_natverkskort_10-100-1000_mbps_tg-3468. Both are in Danish kroner, just to make that clear :) Im fine with spending a bit more on the intel nic if its better.

The TP Link NIC should be fine, but then again, so should the Killer NIC. The Intel NIC definitely has a better chance of not having driver related problems though.

/I assume you've downloaded the Killer NICs latest drivers?

I did in early january, but the driver was just an old one bundled with new software, seems like they might have released a 2016 driver that i have not checked out, gonna install that and see if it makes any difference, i would doubt it tho, all the drivers i have used from them have been pretty much terrible, but worth a shot.

Very late reply, but i installed the new drivers thought it might have worked, but nope, still throws me off, even today it had to update path of exile, which was a 8mb patch! yet it still just disconnects me right away when it starts to download, so im 100% sure it is the NIC, guess its time to buy a PCI-E one :)

i had the same problem. Installed all the latest drivers provided by msi for my onboard NIC. but keeps disconnecting. I then deleted the device in device manager and thus also all my drivers and rebooted my computer. When starting up again windows 10 detected my NIC and installed drivers by itself. since then i never had any problems anymore.
