My cat got into a fight outside (and lost) and as a result she nearly spent her 9th life. So my family decided after the hefty vet bill that she'd be an indoor cat now. One of the things she would do outside is scratch her claws on an ironwood tree to keep them down, but she cant do that now. So I was wondering if you cat people would have any suggestions on what would make a good replacement for something to scratch, before she starts tearing up my room.

Pic related, its my cone cat :3

I've had cats all my life. Currently have 3 and giving them a cat tree saved my chairs. They like the feeling on their claws and it gives them something to play on. My cats sleep on the two pillars every night.

This one stands about 5 feet tall

Edit: As I look behind me at the same cat tree.... That is either one freaking huge cat or mine is just larger.

If she preferred that particular tree you can always try and bring a piece of it inside. Other than that there's the usual scratching trees that should work out just fine, although it may take a while to make her understand that that's the one and only place that can be scratched. Alternatively you can cut her claws, we did this when we had indoor cats and it worked out quite fine. :)

i just let my cats(three of 'em) scratch my computer chair. they seemed to enjoy climbing around it very much. well the chair is certainly cheaper than a cat scratch post here so that's fine with me. they are not de-claw btw.
