Eco mode

Just curious to what the benefits are to ECO mode on my EVGA PSU and does it work?

If I enable it, the fans should kick in early enough to prevent overheating right? Or is there a chance it'll fail?

I've read that it can extend the lifespan of the PSU fan, is this true?

I have an EVGA GS and the Eco mode makes it so that the fan doesn't come on until 25% load on the PSU. It never hits that on my 550W unit with an i3 and 250X so I never hear it. It does increase the lifespan of the fan, yes. 

 

The fan doesn't kick in on a heat basis I don't think, but nothing putting mine on load of 25% will do any damage from heat to it as that's less than 150W lol.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Is it worth it audio wise? Are the fans that loud? I have a SuperNova 650w.

The fans are near dead silent.
