Yeah that would work if you are using it as a storage disk.

Hey there Maccat123,

 

The OS installer gives you the option to delete any old partitions and to format the drive. This should be enough for a fresh install as the system will see the drive as empty and will overwrite everything with the new data. You don't necessarily need to write zeros to the whole drive. :) Have in mind that if you want to keep any data you should back it up beforehand.

 

Another note: you should check the health of any drives that you are reusing just to be sure that they are safe to store the data of your new drive. :)
