well im really bored and just straight up need something to do in my spare time, anybody got any cheap projects i could attempt ? (no art projects cause im trash at art) like anything, i dont really know what im expecting from this but whatever, any suggestions ?

dont really have an old computer to use, could use my main rig for it... what is a pfsense router though is it just like a network switch ?

It's a freeBSD based operating system. Can be set up to be used as a router, firewall, anti-virus, etc. Could probably run a VM of it to play around with it, or buy a $30 craigslist computer.
