build a new pc and Steam  FAILED TO START GAME (UNKNOWN ERROR) ever game tried very they said to do online

Is steam running in compatibility mode? 

Is your firewall preventing steam from making connection?

Are you running steam as administrator?

My solution to almost everything is reinstall windows. or u can try to reinstall steam.

Compatibility mode, right click steam, properties, the the compatibility tab, if it's not on, try turning it on to Windows 7 mode. I have to do this to get my steam games to work.

Yup. There's your problem. You can't just install windows on one computer and expect it to work perfectly on another. You need to reinstall that + all the software. Really, go for it rather sooner than later.

Make sure your Windows and drivers are also up to date. Check to make sure you have direct X and runtimes stuff installed.

You say you built a new computer, did you install a fresh install of an OS, if so which OS, and then did you install latest drivers, and anything else?

 

Also what security software are you running, and if you are reusing the old OS, have you uninstalled any old driver suite properly and removed left over registry keys?

I know this is to do with a Steam issue but what!?  That is not good in anyway, in fact maybe a virus is restricting you to use Steam.  2 things:

 

1) Does it only happen to a few games, 1 or all of them.  

2) Have you tried restarting your system?
