So just to get to the point the Following is the PC Build.

CPU: Intel Pentium G3258 (Stock Air Cooler)

MoBo: MSI H81M-P33 (BIOS Version 1.9)

RAM: GSkills Ripjaws 2x4GB 1600MHz (@1333MHz)

SSD: Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250GB

GPU: EVGA GTX 950 FTW 2GB

PSU: Corsair VS450

Case: NZXT S340

So currently saving up for a NZXT X61 Kraken so i can Overclock and soon upgrading a Skylake Build, Just started PC Building this 2016 so kinda need to know how to what. My question is this can i get the G3258 4.7GHz on a 1.300V Below? and what should i check.

For example G3258 4.7GHz on a 1.270V and on Stock Air Cooler Temps on Gaming about 2-3 Hours hover around 77-84C could this be Normal?

Hope Someone can help me with this Question about Overclocking.

Mine is limited to 4.2-4.3 at 1.3v, yours may be better or worse.

Real Temp GT, keep an eye on your temps. Don't push it where it goes over 85 on load, see what you can get at 1.3v, test with Intel Burn Test, AIDA 64, Cinebench, while keeping an eye on your temps. When you get better cooling then push it to 1.35v and maybe 1.4v if you want and see what you can get but I would keep it at 1.3v for a 24/7 OC.

Above 4GHZ - 4.2GHz you wont see any benefit in games or any other environment. Only in benchmarks you will see higher scores. I can do 4.8GHz on 1.295 on mine, but I just run 4.2 at 1.15 because I see no benefit in anything other than benchmarks ( that I don't care about ).

Check your Games if you are not even getting good performance on your G3258, check your specification on your games. and go with a basic 4 cores top not i3 go with i5 4460.

I have incredible performance with my g3258.

EDIT: I was just pointing out that higher than 4 or lets say max 4.4 is not a good idea. You overvolt for minimal performance increase. Not wise.

4.6Ghz at 1.280v here, delidded with CLP and a 212 Evo never gets past 62 degrees celsius. That's its sweet spot, and I keep it that way because it's free. :)

The range that you are getting at 4.7 is correct with an stock fan without delid. When you get past 80 degrees the cpu is more unstable and can crash.

If you hit 4.7GHz at 1.27v, you have what I lovingly refer to as a "God chip".

I've seen overclocks as high as 4.2-4.4GHz on the stock cooler, not sure what the voltage was though. If you do OC on the stock cooler, be prepared. It will be loud.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

Same here, had mine running with a GTX 760, and going from 4.2 to 4.8 made no noticeable difference in Rocket League.  I've since upgraded that to an i5 4690k and am planning another build with the G3258 and an HD 7790.  Going to use that one to play around with Linux and Steam OS.
