cheap raspberry pi

I need a raspberry pi for a project, but looking on amazon all i'm finding is the pi 2 model B which is way overkill for what I need.  Does anybody know where I can find an original pi, so that it's cheap, or just a cheap rip off of the pi that still has good python libraries?

I can help with programming and hardware.

Get a Pi zero. It is $5 and new and powerful and just great all around

I would try going for the A+ if you don't want a demanding pi. Though, there are lots of setbacks with the A+, including how it can only be used with low power projects (unless you find a way to mod it). They also still sell the Model 1 B+ if you want a little more demanding pi.

The best bet, as mentioned, would be an A or A+ if the B2 is overkill for you.  (You'll have to use a USB hub and either USB Wifi dongle or ethernet-to-USB to connect to the internet, though, for updates and downloading libraries)

 

What exactly are you doing that the B2 is overkill?
