Why do I get such low PPD

Hi I have a AMD Phenom II 1035T processor and a Radeon HD 7970 GPU. I am upgrading the motherboard and the CPU to a FX 8350 and Sabertooth 990FX soon. With my current setup I only get about 3000 points per day max on folding@home and I was wondering whether anybody had any suggestions as what I should do to try and combat this. Thanks :)

Do you have both the GPU and SMP slots folding? If you switch to Expert view, you should be able to see the PPD of each. Also, for the AMD card, what driver version are you running? The newer ones have a bug that will limit them to 30% GPU utilization. Check with a util to see what load your GPU is at.

ye with my overclock on my 7970 it runs at about 25% load at all times. And i am not sure but I think so for the gpu and smp

I am running catalyst 13.1 I think.

strange i get 11391 PPD on medium on my Phenom X6 T1100 am running CCC 12.6 though

Yep - it's those 13.1 drivers that are killing ya. You can either stop folding on the GPU and just do SMP or check out the FAQ which has info on this specific issue... It's stickied at the top of this sub forum...

i have to say from an crossfire point of vieuw i never take the latest drivers since they often screw up the stability of my system
