Hi guys.

 

Just saying I have no experience with networking. So I am planning to set up 2 routers in Bridge mode. I need my Superhub  2 router from Virgin Media to connect to two computers via Ethernet and also provide WiFi for a part of my house. Then I want to add another Ethernet cable to run to a second part of the house and connect to a router there and provide WiFi. I understand that Bridge mode means that it will provide the same network just extended. I am think of buying the TP-Link Archer D2 AC750. Will this router do what I want it to do? And is what I want even possible? And how will I set it up? I might need the extra Ethernet ports for devices later.

Repeater is receiving wifi and sending out wifi again, also called bridge mode.

Generally a bad idea because you cut speeds in half and less..

Good thing you have an ethernet cable to that other side of your house. Full speed in, full speed out.

 

Now, I'd configure the router as an access point. It means that you're staying in one network instead of creating two. For example: you give a wireless print-job while you are connected to router2 and the printer is on router1: it won't work. 

When you configure a router to an AP you turn of the DHCP. That means it doesn't distribute ip adresses. Print job goes through the AP to router1 and finds the printer.

 

HOW TO MAKE AN AP OUT OF A ROUTER:

1. Log into the 192.168.x.x or other method.

2. Find where it says DHCP and disable it

3. Dont put the incoming ethernet cable into the WAN port anymore, put it in one of the 4 other ports.
