Posted February 28, 2016 Hey guys, currently building a NAS for my business and looking for some of your help. I'm currently looking for a case for this build and wondering if you guys can help. Also if you guys want to help suggest other components for this build is very helpful. Use of this NAS is to help store information such as documents files and soon to also store surveillance camera footage, but primarily used for document storage for a healthcare facility PartPicker: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/9vFsyc
 Posted February 28, 2016 With only 2x 2tb hdds, you definitely dont need that much CPU processing power. Here is a nas build that I use for clients. You can load a piece of nas software called xpenology. It's basically the synology dsm software with a modded kernel to support basically any hardware. My native language is C++

Posted February 28, 2016 For general file storage and surveillance storage, the CPU isn't necessary. An i3 could do the job just fine.

WD Reds are designed for NAS and RAID operation with multiple users hitting the drives at once. They'll cope better with surveillance loads than Purples would with RAID and NAS operation.
