Recently my old Logitech Z4's have finally given up. Now Im looking for a replacement, without spending too much and get as much quality as I can. Ill mostly use them for listening to music, some movies/tvshows and just daily usage. For gaming Im getting some 5.1 headset, so thats not an issue.

So far Ive found 2 speakers that cought my interest:

Edifier R1280T

Logitech Z533

Both have very positive reviews, however it seems that the logitech might be a bit overpriced for the quality it brings. But I have never owned speakers that werent just pc speakers. So Ive done some reading and it seems like the Edifiers are active speakers (so I dont need an amp right?), are they just ready to plug in to my pc and work like Im used to?

Any help or other speaker suggestions are appreciated!

I run 5.1 Surround though a reciever on my PC.

I never used PC speakers before but I would get the Edifier's because they are Bookshelve speakers. They have an RCA connection so you need this

****EDIT - Dont need that cable they come with one.

They are also powered so no AMP is needed

I'm speaking in overtly broad strokes here, but generally the bigger a speaker is the better it's going to sound.  The Logitech is going to be able to produce more low end since it as a sub, but just by looking at them I would expect the Edifiers to sound better.  Of course I could be completely wrong since I'm looking at them and not hearing them.  You can always add a sub later to the Edifiers, although the wiring may be a little tricky.

They are both active speakers, so you just plug them into your PC and into the electric outlet and you're good to go.  You may need to get a 3.5mm  to RCA cable for the Edifiers, but I imagine that's included.
